Oxygenating plants grow quickly creating shelter for the pond's inhabitants, including fish, amphibians and their eggs, tiny invertebrates. Oxygenating pondweed also helps control algae by creating shade and absorbing excess nutrients (nitrates) reducing algae growth.
Myth Buster: Oxygenating plants do not release oxygen to your pond 24 hours a day. They absorb oxygen at night and must not be used as a substitute for a pond pump or air pump in a fish pond.
