Choosing Your Pond Liner:
For a large pond liner we recommend a heavy-duty rubber liner. Our heavy duty liners are extremely durable, being up to 1mm thick and with a long life warranty. For koi ponds, large ponds or even a lake liner Firestone Pondgard is perfect. Where flexibility is required in detail ponds, the SealEco EPDM GreenSeal rubber liner is perfect.
For a small pond liner, a flexible fish pond liner is best as they easily mould into the shape reducing fold visibility. Butyl pond liners are perfect for this and are made partly from natural raw materials. A cheaper option is the EcoSeal GreenSeal EPDM pond liner and offers similar flexibility properties Butyl liner and is commonly used by Landscapers.
If you are looking to buy a cheaper budget pond liner we offer an excellent budget PVC pond liner option. The Oase Alfafol PVC high quality pond liner has excellent properties including flexibility, UV resistant, 0.5mm thick and comes with a 15-year guarantee. A word of caution, some cheap pond liner on well-known marketplace websites may not offer the life they suggest. Any early saving maybe lost by having to repair, patch or even replace the PVC liner.
To protect your liner from sharp stones and root we suggest placing pond underlay (liner protection matting) under your liner during construction. The protection underlay mat should also be placed on top if you are adding a substrate such as soil or gravel into your pond. This is normal in wildlife or native ponds.
